Kids and Families
Are kids welcome at Zum’s?
Yes. Zum’s is a family restaurant and always has been. Kids of all ages are welcome at any time, in the dining room and on the patio. We have high chairs and booster seats available as well as coloring sheets with games on the back.
Do you have a kids menu?
Yes. We have a separate kids menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, for guests 12 and under, and every kids meal includes a drink.
Do you have milkshakes?
We do, and they are one of the things people come back for. Strawberry, vanilla and chocolate, in regular and kids sizes.
Dogs
Is your patio dog friendly?
Yes. Well behaved dogs are welcome on our patio, and we are happy to bring your dog a bowl of water. Dogs are not permitted inside the dining room unless they are a service dog.
Hours and Menus
What time do you serve breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Lunch is served from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Dinner is served from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Are you open year round?
No. Zum’s is a seasonal restaurant in Waterton Lakes National Park. We are typically open from the first or second weekend in May through early October. Our closing day this year is October 4. Hours can change in the shoulder season, so check our Google listing for the most current times.
Ordering and Prices
Do burgers and sandwiches come with fries?
It depends on the time of day. At dinner, our burgers are served with fries, and you can substitute a salad. At lunch, our handhelds are priced on their own, and you can add a side of fries or a side salad for an extra charge. Lunch prices are lower to reflect that.
Is there an automatic gratuity?
A 15% gratuity is added to groups of 8 or more. There are no other automatic charges. If you are unsure about anything on your bill, ask your server and we will explain it before you pay.
Dietary Needs
Do you have vegetarian options?
Yes, and they are marked on every menu. Vegetarian options include our house made black bean and chickpea veggie burger, hot cauli bites, fried dill pickles, poutine, caesar and pomegranate salads, veggie omelettes and breakfast bowls, pancakes, french toast, power oats and a breakfast banana split and more. You can also substitute a veggie burger patty for chicken on any salad.
Do you have gluten free options?
We offer gluten free bread and buns as a substitute on most handhelds, burgers, breakfasts and omelettes for an extra charge, and gluten free toast is available as a side. There are many good gluten free options. If you go to the “Allergens” tab you’ll see all the allergen details for every item. Please tell your server about any allergy or dietary restriction when you order so the kitchen can handle it properly.
Do you have Halal options?
All of our chicken is halal.
Seating and Wait Times
Do you take reservations?
We do not take reservations, just first come, first served. If we are full, we seat guests using a waitlist. Stop by the host booth and add your name/number, and we will send you a text message when your table is ready. You are welcome to walk around town while you wait. Because we seat in the order people join the list, you may see guests seated ahead of you who added their name earlier.
How long is the wait?
It varies with the season and the time of day. Mid-summer lunch between 1:00PM-2:30PM and dinner between 6:00PM-7:30PM are our busiest periods. We pride ourselves on being fast and getting our customers seated as quickly as possible even for large groups. When we have a waiting list the time our guests wait is often 5 to 10 minutes but extreme cases can occur where it’s longer. If you are in a hurry, takeout is usually the fastest option.
Do you accommodate large groups?
Yes, and we are good at it. Large groups are a daily occurrence here. We regularly seat tables of ten, fifteen and twenty, and we have sections that can hold up to forty people in one area.
For groups of 15 or fewer, you can usually just walk in and we will get you seated. For anything over 15, give us a call ahead of time so we can be more prepared.
A 15% gratuity is added to groups of 8 or more.
Takeout
Can I order takeout?
Yes. We have a dedicated takeout menu built around our fried chicken, including 3, 6, 9, 12 and 18 piece orders, plus Family and Group Packs with fries, coleslaw and gravy. It travels well and is popular for picnics, hikes and campsite dinners. Note that the takeout menu is for takeout orders only and is not available for dine-in. You can also order anything off our regular menu for takeout. We have online ordering as well as a self order kiosk to make takeout orders as easy as possible.
Can I order ahead?
You can order takeout ahead of time if you order by phone or in person.
